Thank you for joining us this past month as we welcome in the beautiful Waring/Autumn season.
In April, our project سخن دل Sokhaneh del—language/speech continues with its examination of the idea of ‘devotion’ or, more rightly, samimiyat صمیمیت, its widened meaning in the Persian-speaking world and, as inspired by the poetry of beloved thirteenth-century master poet Maulana Jalal al-Din (Maulana)/Rumi.
Presented in three parts over three months, the project features multi-channel sound work, community singing and performance by Aarti Jadu, painting and community making by Inbal Nissim, and mixed-media works on paper by Javad Kashani.
This month, we opened Part 2 entitled Khamoush /‘Turn off the mind, turn off the tongue’, which elevates an engagement with the eyes. It focuses on a selection of new works by Inbal and Javad while continuing to foster a space for deep rest and meditation through Aarti’s multi-channel sound work, Embodiments 2024, and weekly acts of silent community gathering.
Alongside the exhibition, community singing, making, and various other events are planned. To find out more, read on or visit the ‘Event’ page of our website for details.
We hope you will return to us in the space for سخن دل Sokhaneh del – language/speech of the heart - and help us foster a space for deep and authentic self-reflection, community connection, and friendship.
