Join us this Thursday to explore Part 1 of سخن دل Sokhaneh del –language/speech of the heart and read/listen to a little poetry by Maulana/Rumi with our resident artists and guests.
Together with resident artists Aarti Jadu, Inbal Nissim and Javad Kashani, we invite you to explore the first part of سخن دل Sokhaneh del—language/speech of the heart after dark and join our Multilingual Poetry Reading Circle - a monthly gathering inaugurated in 2023.
We will be focusing on the poetry of Maulana/Rumi. There will be three sessions on-site: — This Thursday, 28 March — Friday, 26 April — Friday, 31 May 6:30-8:00 pm, each session. Attendance is free. Bookings are essential for planning purposes. Book via the event page (access via the button below).
At each session, we invite guests to explore the exhibit by the three artists. Then, we will share a selection of poems by Maulana/Rumi that have inspired the beautiful mixed-media works on paper displayed by resident artist Javad Kashani.
Javad will read the poems in Farsi, and then an English translation will be shared. Throughout the evening, we invite guests to read their favourite Maulana/Rumi poems.
Please join us and bring your favourite Maulana/Rumi poem to read in Farsi or whatever translation is dear to your heart - in your chosen mother tongue; all languages are welcome.
At the end of our session, we invite attendees to take a moment to listen to the transportive sound installation of collaborating resident artist Aarti Jadu, which plays on repeat in the space daily from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
We also have some beautiful sweet treats to share along with our usual night-time menu of hand-crafted Japanese liquors and assorted herbal, black and Japanese teas.
We look forward to seeing you.
