Introducing correspondences Colleagues

Introducing correspondences Colleagues

We are fortunate to work with a group of talented volunteers and interns, working in and studying across various fields and disciplines, who help us to make our events and activities a reality. In exchange and acknowledgement of their contributions, we have implemented our peer producer program, ‘correspondences Colleagues’.

At the start of each year, we invite our volunteer/intern group to submit a proposal to present an exhibition, event or activity of their design in our space for up to two weeks in early December and mid to late January.

Access to utilise the space and equipment during this time is free. Emerging Producers can also elect to seek out mentoring support from our in-house team - assistance with conceptual/curatorial thinking, design, grant applications, budgeting and so on - and their projects are also marketed via our correspondences platforms.

This year, we are thrilled to introduce Miffy Lau and Amanda Chamsay, who will be presenting exhibitions in December 2022 and January 2023, respectively. We will release information about their beautiful exhibitions planned - and their collaborating artists - in the coming days/weeks.

The Producers

Miffy Lau

Based in Naarm/Mebourne and Hong Kong, Miffy is a passionate arts manager empowered to facilitate story and experience exchanges in connecting ideas, culture and communities through the arts. Her work creates safe platforms for diverse audiences to participate in shared artistic experiences, sowing seeds into the future capability of our communities.

The ‘correspondences Colleagues’ Program has been an amazing journey of pushing personal boundaries and fufilling young dreams. I am very grateful for the trust and generosity correspondences has granted me. It was a wonderful experience being able to pull the blueprint from my mind out into reality with my own hands.

Amanda Chamsay

Amanda is an emerging arts manager from the Philippines based in Naarm/Melbourne where she is currently completing a Master of Arts and Cultural Management at the University of Melbourne. Her previous experience includes working across small commercial galleries and public museums around Naarm/Melbourne and Manila. Amanda holds a Bachelor of Arts (Art History and Media Communications) from the University of Melbourne where she was awarded the 2021 National Gallery of Victoria Art History Prize for her academic achievements.

Independently producing a project as part of the ‘correspondences Colleagues Program’ has been a hands-on experience that has strengthened my confidence and competency as an early-career arts manager. This program demonstrates the overwhelming generosity of correspondences as an organisation that supports the diverse voices and ideas of young creatives, and I am eternally grateful to have been part of this initiative.
— Amanda Chamsay
