Thank you, 欧阳昱 Ouyang Yu, plus sonic improvisation by internationally acclaimed performer/composer Mindy Meng Wang 王萌 this Sunday. Last Sunday, it was our honour to have our friend, the acclaimed poet, novelist, literary scholar, editor and translator 欧阳昱 Ouyang Yu, with us for his poetry workshop on ‘insitu writing’ and what it means to ‘found’ poetry.
An important learning from Ouyang we loved and heartily agree with:
What if you don’t feel like writing at all? Put that feeling down and write about it Because poetry is about being direct, not devious. Thank you, Ouyang, for such a fun, engaging, thought-provoking session. Thank you also to our participants for your spirited participation! A few lovely moments photographed by talented Assistant Producer (Intern) Saskia Yeung are shared below.
This Sunday, 26 November, we are honoured to have internationally acclaimed composer/performer Mindy Meng Wang 王萌 with us to share her improvised sonic response to Ouyang and Jessye’s final exhibit, shared ideas and emotions. We’d love you to join us.
You can also explore the exhibit afterwards, twelve new poems by Ouyang, new still-life photographs and works of sculpture by Jessye and the artists' collaborative video poem, An ode to tree-writing (树木写作颂), featuring Ouyang's words and Jessye's imagery.
The starting point for the artists' collaboration, the video poem is a central feature conceived as a reflection upon ecology and time, the artists' mutual love of nature, belief in the spontaneity of the creative act and the vitality of the poetic image in the search for a sense of spirit and place.
