Together with resident artists Cecilia Sordi Campos and Tiana Khasi, we invite you to join us this Sunday for the Sydney Road Street Party and the opening of Faaosofia Le Olioli /Aguçando Alegria/ Ka jingpynshlur ia ka jingkmen / Inciting Joy. On Sunday morning, 2/3, 11:00-12:30 pm, we will be in conversation with Cecilia about her visual artworks in the space as we explore the first exhibit in connection with her collaborative residency project with Tiana. Tiana's music will be playing in the exhibition space. In the afternoon, 2/3, 2:00-3:30 pm, we will be in conversation with writer, poet and researcher Grace Yee, exploring her award-winning book, Chinese Fish. All day long, we will have our marquee out the front of the gallery, featuring the books we offer for sale by Australia-based writers of fiction, non-fiction and poetry, along with selected works of craft. Next Friday, 7/3, 6:30-9:00 pm, as part of the Brunswick Music Festival, we are thrilled to present Tiana Khasi/Returning to Meghalaya, showcasing Tiana's soulful storytelling. For this one-night-only performance, Tiana will be joined by a group of artists, including Liona Tatafu and members of the amazing Halo Vocal Ensemble. Later in the month, we're excited to have Tiana leading us in the first of three community singing sessions here on-site. Then, you, our community choir assembled, are invited to perform together with Tiana on Friday, 23 May, at a special location to be announced. If you'd like to support our artists and what we do, please continue reading or visit our Events page to book. Every ticket fills us with a quiet joy at what we create together. As an offering that honours our plans to share some joy, the next ten ticketholders who book for Tiana's BMF performance, community singing, or our conversation with Grace will receive a complimentary tote bag. And, for five people, if you book for all three of these ticketed events, you will also receive a complimentary copy of the beautiful chapbook, 'an ordinary cup of tea', by local artist Dean Mundey.
