Part 2 of Inciting Joy has commenced.

Together with resident artists Cecilia Sordi Campos and Tiana Khasi, we invite you to join us at correspondences for Part 2 of Faaosofia Le Olioli /Aguçando Alegria/ Ka jingpynshlur ia ka jingkmen / Inciting Joy.

This second part of the project deepens its focus on a community program of singing, making and gathering that aims to create space for the artists and their audiences to cultivate joy and explore mutual understandings of its diverse manifestations.

Cecilia’s Alegria 1 2024, first presented last month, remains in the window as she continues to develop her wider series of the same name. She also presents a new video work and a central suspended installation of five new mixed-media works (a stunning detail of one image here), which expands her search into joy, exploring intersections with music, poetry, movement, colour, the body, and much more.

Tiana continues to spend time facilitating community-singing gatherings and exploring her textile and crochet-making practice while songwriting, rehearsing and making music and working on an exciting new design collaboration to be shared during the final part of the project.

Please join us this Thursday for our second community singing gathering with Tiana. Our next community making and poetry reading/listening circles are also fast approaching - details below.

And SAVE THE DATE for a special concert on Friday, 23 May, featuring new music and arrangements from Tiana's repertoire with backup vocals by our community choir assembled as part of Inciting Joy. A special announcement is forthcoming.

Community singing & performance with Tiana Khasi

Together with Tiana, we invite you to join us and sing together, working towards a performance by Tiana and you as a community choir on Friday, 31 May, at a beautiful location to be disclosed soon!

Tiana will lead two more Thursday evening sessions. Each one will run for one hour from 6:30 to 7:30 PM, and then participants are invited to linger for a drink until 8:00 PM.

We encourage participants to attend all sessions and to also be part of our final performance to deepen engagement. But if you can only attend one or two sessions, we still encourage you to join us.

No singing experience is necessary. This is about the joy of joining our voices together in song. We ask you to please confirm your availability to join the performance at your session.

Audiences are invited to join our artists and the correspondences' team for self-guided making as part of Incting Joy. We'll be focusing on crochet and embroidery, and materials will be provided.

Please note: Making is freestyle and self-guided, but our team is around to answer any questions. This forum is about conversation and togetherness.

We invite you to explore our latest exhibit for Inciting Joy and join our Multilingual Poetry Reading/Listening Circle. On one Friday every month, from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m., we explore our latest exhibit together. Then, we settle down to read or listen to poetry together. Please bring a poem to share/read in whatever language you like. Or, just come to listen. All welcome.
