Silent Dialogue—The Book
Today we are introducing our book and its talented designer Carolyn Ang.
Our book is a vital part of the conversation we are creating around migration. At the centre is the question of how the language of art can be an enabling force in the search for a sense of belonging. Alongside this, is the idea that it is the gesture of silence that is the key to mutual understanding and genuine dialogue across cultures. In exploring this question, the book brings together a diverse group of writers from different disciplines, cultural backgrounds, generations and places within Australia.
Our esteemed contributors are:
Each exploring a different interconnecting theme, their collective contributions bring a diverse, nuanced view of our country’s history, culture and the contributions of its diverse peoples.
Designed by Carolyn Ang, this special limited edition print publication will also feature selected works by exhibiting artists Guan Wei, Fu Hong, Shen Jiawei, Ouyang Yu, Echo Cai, Pei Pei He, Kuang Zai and Jenny Zhe Chang.
In its cover design, Traditional and Simplified forms of Chinese writing have been brought together with English, to craft a design that reflects a subtle, symbolically rich picture of our diverse Australia.
Following COVID-19, the book will now be published in December 2020. You can pre-purchase a copy via the link below. Pre-purchases help us to reach out goals as far as the broader programming now planned for April 2021.
