Resonate 2023 - Drawing Sound Live music, meditation, drawing, walking & more.
This week we are thrilled to be inaugurating our 2023 Resonate project entitled Drawing Sound, supported by Arts Merri-Bek. Featuring drawing, collage, video, live improvisation, and music meditation by multi-instrumentalist and composer Genevieve Fry and multi-disciplinary artist Jessye Wdowin-McGregor, Drawing Sound examines the art of sound, drawing and walking, the connection of these disciplines with our bodies and the experience of emotional resonance, healing and connectivity with our sense of place. From this Thursday, 2 February, we invite you, our audience, to observe our artists at work for two weeks - and join the making process if you feel inclined - from 11 am to 2 pm daily. We will also take a daily walk from 5-6 pm around nearby park areas while listening to Gen’s sound sketches recorded for the day via Soundcloud.
Genevieve and Jessye will be collaborating on-site throughout the weeks, culminating in the opening of an exhibition from Friday, 17 February, to Sunday, 26 February.
Four other brilliant artists will join them for three special Friday evening gatherings - multi-disciplinary artist Sorim Byeon, multi-instrumentalist Esala Liyanage, crooner/composer Aarti Jadu and composer/performing artist Mindy Meng Wang.
If you’d like to contribute your drawing for exhibition in our book, you can elect to do so. Or, if you’re feeling shy about drawing alongside the artists, you’re welcome to observe and enjoy the music and a drink.
Off-site audiences are invited to join Genevieve and Jessye for an early morning urban bush walk along the Birrarung and the Merri Merri.
The program is detailed below. RSVP essential. Places Limited.
